Domaine de l'Agly

Altitude Vines

The Domaine de l'Agly is located in Latour de France, a medieval village which once marked the entrance to the Kingdom of France, on the border with Spain.

This 12 hectare vineyard of mica schist on blue granite is  nestled at an altitude of 300 meters, overlooking the magnificent valley of the Agly river  between Mount Canigou and the Mediterranean Sea.

This small vineyard is in AOP Côtes du Roussillon Villages Latour de France. These plots, some very old planted in 1900 and 1919, as the youngest ones planted in 2006, are carefully maintained with high environmental value.

Since 2003...

The Domaine de L'Agly was born in 2003. It is the fruit of a meeting of 4 enthusiasts: Hervé sabardeil, David Serodes and Boris Kovac; A Catalan, a French and a Serbian oenologist who dreamed of vinifying together their own wine and Jean Patrick Moaté, a Bordeaux merchant who aspired to sell his own wine....

One of the crucial moments of Vinexpo 2001 will be this famous meeting where Hervé, Boris and David, decided to embark on their common goal. As demanding as each other, it took them 2 years to find the rare pearl.

Nestled in Latour de France, overlooking the Agly valley (name of the coastal river crossing it), this jewel of 12 hectares was part of a set whose owner gave the harvest to the local cooperative. A sumptuous place, grand and unique terroir, magnificent very old vineyards, unheard of potential, they had found their promised land ....

The first thing was to find a name for their baby ... not so simple in the end ... For Jean Patrick, there was obvious evidence given the majesty of the place, it could only be: The Domaine de L'Agly! Hervé treated him mad man, the name must have been deposited for a long time! But Bacchus watched over the cradle ... nothing in the INPI !!! The estate was born.

An eagle (a translation of the river Agly on the old local language), symbol of the estate, took on the labels and made them unforgettable.

The first 2003 harvest, to which Hervé, David and Boris merely contributed their art and their know-how, was awarded a fine Parker rating, confirmation, if need be, of the promising future of the vineyard.

Then came the planning of the works (hand-sewn) to be carried out: care taken to the vineyards, trellising, etc., until the construction of a cellar on the estate in 2013 unique case in the region.

The team of these 4 buddies continues to work unceasingly for the qualitative improvement of their wine, the beauty of their vineyards and the satisfaction of the most demanding palates.

A complete range is proposed to all wine-lovers who will find according to the wishes of the owners, the most perfect expression of the wines of this magnificent region of Roussillon.
